This policy explains what information RenoCalcs (renocalcs.net) collects, how it is used and the choices you have. RenoCalcs is an independent website that publishes free home improvement calculators and guides.
Calculator inputs stay in your browser
The measurements and prices you enter into our calculators are processed by JavaScript in your browser. They are not sent to our server and we do not store them. If you use the “Copy link” button, your inputs are added to the part of the web address after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to our server; it is only shared with the people you send the link to.
Contact form
If you contact us through the contact form, we receive your name, email address, the topic you choose and your message. We use this only to read and answer your message. The form delivers your message to us by email; it is not stored in our website database. We keep messages only as long as we need them to handle your request.
Server logs and hosting
Our website is hosted by Hostinger, which also provides the content delivery network (CDN) that serves our pages. Like most web servers, these systems automatically record technical information for security and reliability, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.
Cookies
We use cookies for Google Analytics (see below). Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent first, and analytics cookies are only set if they accept; their choice is saved in their browser and can be changed by clearing site data. Technical cookies are also used when an administrator is logged in. Our fonts are hosted on our own server, so loading our pages does not send requests to font providers.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors use RenoCalcs: which pages and calculators are used, how visitors arrive, approximate location (country/region) and device type. We also record when a calculator is used and which one, but never the measurements or prices you enter. Google Analytics uses cookies (such as _ga) and processes your IP address to generate these statistics; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. We use Google Consent Mode: where consent is required and not given, analytics cookies are not set. Ads personalization signals are turned off. You can also block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Learn more in Google’s privacy policy.
Advertising
RenoCalcs is free to use and we plan to fund it with advertising, starting with Google AdSense. When ads are enabled on the site, the following applies:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
- Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before advertising cookies are used.
You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. Residents of some US states, including California, have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising. We do not sell the personal information you send us. To make a request, use our contact form.
Children
RenoCalcs is intended for adults planning home projects. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
